2002 Started Karting aged 13 in Junior TKM.
2003 Moved into Junior Rotax UK and won second ever race in the class. Junior Rotax Festival winner and numerous top 5 results at club level.
2004 First year in National level karting as well as club level. 43rd out of 80 at national level but numerous podium places, fastest laps and good results at club level.
2005 Moved up to Senior Rotax, participating at national and club level including a one-off European round. 18th out of 95 entries in national championship, after running 11th all year, 9th in British open Championship out of 76 entries, 10th at Kartmasters out of 56 entries and fastest lap in the European round out of 72 entries in the race, beating 2 British ex-champions and 3 ex-world champions and beating the champion of that year. Third overall in local club championship out of over 50 drivers despite missing 3 rounds due to national champs. Won a Formula BMW UK Championship Scholarship worth £35,000 to race in the Formula BMW series in 2006.
2006 Formula BMW UK Championship: Qualified 9th for first ever car race out of 24 drivers, beating many second year drivers.
2007 Plans Marcus hopes to raise the budget to race in the 2007 Formula BMW UK Championship or UK Formula Ford Championship and gain some consistently good finishes with, hopefully, some visits to the top step of the podium and challenge for the Championship win.
Work Experience
Promatecme International Motorsport
Marcus has worked for several seasons at Silverstone-based Promatecme International Motorsport as team assistant and on some occasions driver coach for Formula 3 and Formula BMW tests.
Philip Gough Racing
Worked on many weekends in 2006 for Philip Gough Racing kart team as chief mechanic and chief driver coach to all of the drivers in the team, who have varying levels of experience.
Palmer Sport Bedford
Started work in July 2006 for Palmer Sport in Bedford as a part-time instructor on corporate days.
